Industrial Foam Seals for Construction.

Accreditations Roundal2024

AS Rubber & Plastics is a UK-based supplier and converter of industrial foam and sponge seals for the construction sector. With 60 years of expertise, we stock a comprehensive range of EPDM sponge, neoprene, PVC and polyurethane foam grades, all available plain or adhesive-backed, cut to size, or supplied as bespoke parts to your specification.

Types of Industrial Foam Seals Used in Construction

The foam seal required depends on the application and site conditions. External weathersealing, curtain walling, and expansion joints call for closed-cell EPDM-based foams with UV and weathering resistance — with flame retardant grades available where fire performance is required.

Structural glazing systems require a specialist PVC spacer tape engineered to maintain joint depth and support structural silicone curing.

For draught exclusion, fast or slow recovery PVC foam is specified depending on whether the joint is dynamic or static.

Internal applications such as HVAC ductwork and fire-rated sealing require Class Zero rated materials with thermal and acoustic insulation properties.

Where oil or fuel resistance is needed — plant rooms, industrial buildings — neoprene or blended grades are appropriate.

FAQs.

Can foam seals be supplied self-adhesive?

Yes. Most materials in our range are available with an adhesive backing, allowing the seal to be applied directly to the substrate during installation without additional fixings. If you have a specific adhesive requirement, contact us and we'll advise on the most suitable option.

What is the difference between EPDM and neoprene foam seals?

EPDM is the standard choice for outdoor and weathering applications — UV, ozone, and temperature resistant, maintaining flexibility in cold conditions.

Neoprene offers better resistance to oils and petroleum-based substances, making it more suitable for plant rooms, industrial buildings, and anywhere fuel or oil exposure is a factor.

Can foam seals be cut to a specific size?

Yes. All materials are converted in-house and can be supplied as rolls, sheets, strips, coils, or custom cut and pressed parts to your exact width, length, or profile.

Send us your dimensions and we'll confirm lead time and pricing.
